Dr Kirsty Pringle is the project manager of the Software Sustainability Institute, which helps researchers enhance their work through better use of research software.
Based at EPCC, University of Edinburgh, she has a background in climate and atmospheric modelling, having previously worked at the University of Leeds’ Institute for Climate and Atmospheric Science. Kirsty is an established member of the Research Software Engineering (RSE) community and a former trustee of the Society for Research Software Engineering. She champions open research, environmentally responsible computing, citizen science, and public engagement. She also co‑leads the “Air Quality Stripes” public engagement project (https://airqualitystripes.info/) which visualises historical trends in air pollution in cities around the world
