Prof. Blanca Antizar

Professor Blanca Antizar, a global leader in water and environmental innovation is the Director of Consultancy for Europe, Africa, and Latin America at Isle Utilities. She also serves as Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor in Environmental Security and Resilience at University College London.

With more than two decades of experience, Blanca has led transformative initiatives in sustainable water and wastewater treatment, renewable energy, and circular economy projects across the world. Her work bridges academic excellence and real-world impact, contributing to major programs including the World Bank’s Utility of the Future initiative and numerous EU‑funded projects involving circular economy strategies and informing policy making.

Blanca earned her PhD in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, followed by an MSc in Environmental Monitoring & Assessment and a BSc in Environmental Chemistry from Coventry University. Before Isle Utilities, she held academic positions at the University of Edinburgh, Universidad de Cantabria, UCP, UCL and Imperial College London. 

An internationally recognised scholar, with more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and an h-index of 34. Her work has consistently placed her in Elsevier’s Top 2% of Highly Cited Scientists since 2017. In 2022, she was named iAgua Woman of the Year. Blanca is a Fellow of the International Water Association (FIWA), the Institution of Civil Engineers (FICE) and the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and actively advocates for innovation and diversity in the water sector.
