Prof. Larissa Naylor is an internationally recognised, award winning interdisciplinary Professor of Geomorphology and Environmental Geography at the School of Geographical and Earth Sciences, University of Glasgow.
Her research spans coastal geomorphology, climate adaptation, and nature-based solutions, focusing on how natural processes can inform resilient engineering responses to environmental change. Her work shapes academic debates as well as policy, planning and practice and in coastal and urban settings. She is globally renowned for her expertise and interests at the interface between geomorphology, ecology and engineering and coastal climate change risks, impacts, resilience and adaptation in Europe, Canada, Asia and West Africa. Larissa leads transdisciplinary projects on coastal adaptation, combining environmental science, engineering, the arts, environmental economics and stakeholder engagement. She advises national and international bodies on sustainable coastal infrastructure and climate resilience. Her work embodies agile engineering by emphasising flexible, nature-informed, place-based strategies that adapt to dynamic environmental and social contexts.
