
Prof. Dawn Bonfield MBE FREng
Prof. Dawn Bonfield MBE FREng is a materials engineers by background, and now has a number of diverse roles across the engineering sector, working on inclusion, sustainability, ethics, and future engineering skills.
She works in Higher Education at King’s College London as a Professor of Practice in Engineering for Sustainable Development, as well as an Hon Professor at Aston University. She is President of the Commonwealth Engineers’ Council and works internationally with engineering organisations and countries vulnerable to climate change on standardisation, sharing best practice, and policy influence aimed at a sustainable built environment in rapidly developing economies. She has an interest in the history of women in engineering, and was the founder of International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) which takes place on 23 June annually.
