Dr Desen Kirli is a Lecturer in Net Zero Energy Systems and holder of the Elizabeth Georgeson Fellowship at the School of Engineering, University of Edinburgh.
Her work focuses on sustainable energy systems, particularly in the use of data-driven and digital technologies to enable net zero. Her current projects explore the design of decentralised energy systems in underserved communities and climate-resilient infrastructure for vulnerable populations. For her work, she received the Scottish Renewables Young Professionals Green Energy and WES Top 50 Women in Engineering awards. Additionally, she is the Chair of Molly Fergusson Initiative, aiming to increase awareness of gender equity in engineering. She is a passionate advocate for gender equity and public participation in engineering education and practice.
